    Input Type = "File" question

Is there a way to specify what type of files to display in the file type
drop down of the open file dialog? I've searched for examples but no luck.

Since this is the HTML discussion I'm assuming...can you specify this in
    HTML? No.
    Otherwise, details, details.

Actually, yes using the input element and setting the type to "file":

    <input type="file" size="45" name="some name" id="some id">

I understand that, it was a given based on your post. I was answering your
actual question of "Is there a way to specify what type of files to display
in the file type drop down of the open file dialog?" In HTML? No.

Its based on the application you are in. Similar to the common dialog
    control in VB.

Sorry if there was any confusion.

Here is a list of what is exposed by the file type element,

    erence/objects/input_file.asp

Oops, confused I was . I thought you were asking for clarification of the
question. Anyway, I've been looking into the ACCEPT element but it does not
seem to work. I found a ton of documentation that says it can be used in
such a way, then I find other documentation that states most current
browsers ignore that attribute. What a bummer. Oh well, thanks anyway.
