Has anyone had any positive experiances with vb.net and firebird?

I have tried the following oledb and odbc drivers and while some of then can
fill a dataset, all of them fail when tring to update one. The code I am
using works fine with Access, MS SQL and MySQL.

ODBC Gemini InterBase ODBC Driver
InterBase ODBC Driver by Easysoft.

OLEDB Free IBProvider
ZStyleGroup.
SIBProvider.
IbOleDb.

Has anyone tried something that worked? Is there another free database
someone could recomend for vb.net? So far I have looked at Access,
firebird, sapdb, msde and MySQL.
