    Downloading pictures (gif/jpeg)

    Hi,
could somebody please give me advice about downloading pictures (gif/jpeg)?
Whenever I use "a href=file.gif " , the picture is automatically shown. But
    I don't want that.
Instad, I want a window to pop-up with "save file".
    Thank you for your help.

    Check out these two urls:

    http://www.inquiry.com/techtips/asp_...pro&docID=1981

    http://support.microsoft.com/support.../q182/3/15.asp

Here's "Ask the ASP Pro"'s workaround:

    <A HREF="mydoc.doc" onclick="alert('To save the file, right-click the hyperlink
and click Save Target As.');return false;">Download document test</a>

instead of using complicated methods, here is a crude but simple method that
    should solve your purpose

suppose you have a picture called xyz.jpg
simply place the image in a zip file called xyz.zip using winzip.
then on your webpage include a link to this xyz.zip file
this way when a user clicks on it, the 'Save As..' dialog box will
    automatically pop up.

an added advantage is that the size of the file will become much smaller and
users can download even larger images/wallpapers in a short time.

    Note : I also run a mailing list/ezine where I regularly
discuss and try to solve similar problems. You might want
to sign for it at http://www.geocities.com/nerdfilez/

Hope you find my advice useful :0)
