    What is the maximum size of an Microsoft Access Database...?

    That's not to say that a 1 GB Access database is a working database. I think
    long before you hit 1 GB you should switch to something more powerful.

    Depends on what version. For Access 97 and earlier, the limit to a single
    MDB file is 1 gb, but you can, of course, link MDBs together, so that you're
    limited only by the size of your harddrive. (Of course, a single table can't
    span more than one MDB) In Access 2000, the limit for a single MDB file is 2
    gb, but since Access 2000 uses Unicode rather than ASCII to store text, this
    usually doesn't equate to a true doubling of capacity.

    As T. Bradley stated, it's unusual that you'd want to let your database grow
    that large. However, I have heard of at least one instance where the total
    size was in excess of 20 gb.
