Help! (New Window as Menu for Main Window)

Does anyone know how I can accomplish this? I would like to have a new window
open (through target="_blank") from my main page with a set of links. However,
instead of these links opening in the new window, I would like them to open
in the main window. I've seen this done on other sites, but have no idea
how to accomplish this task. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
