    ComputerName of client

Is there an easy way to display the hostname of the client of my web page..

I could use an embedded script and use WScript.Network.ComputerName function
on the client side to get it on a form which works but only in the wsh
objects are available on the workstation.

Possibly could return the environment variable "COMPUTERNAME" but it also
requires the WSH components on the client side.

I also would prefer browser independence.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

    Rgds
    Ben

I found this same question on another news group. I haven't tested this
but from my experience it seems like it would work.

    Good Luck.

Yes, as long as it is an intranet app, and the users are
logged into the domain, and you have turned off anonymous
access, and turned on, NT Challenge response.

    Request.ServerVariables("LOGON_USER")

If they are not logged on to the domain, they will be prompted for
their domain user name and password.
