IE loses window names with SP2 and Q313675?

Simple code (open new window with name X, then open it again with same name)that
used to run fine now breaks in IE 5.5 with SP2 and Q313675: IE ALWAYS opens
    a new window.
Is this a new bug? Anyone else encountered this?

Don't think so, keep in mind that after you open window named X, you can
reuse it from any other browser window, however, if the content or webpage
loaded in window X changes not by using the window name, such as using a
script code to load another page or a direct typed url in it, the window
name is lost and the other browser windows won't find any window named X,
thus creating one upon code execution, nothing new btw, is so in IE and NS.
