If it's possible, it would be nice if the DevX newsgroup server could mirror
the VFP newsgroups on the msnews server. That way, when someone posts a
message to one server, it shows up on both - increasing the exposure for
everyone.

Well, I'd be more likely to drop in more often if I could figure out how
this interface is supposed to work. I _must_ be missing something. Is there
some way to get a decent structured view of the messages and to work your
way through a thread without having to go back and forth to the Related Items
view?

To add to Zane's suggestion, the OE5 interface will let you sort messages
different ways, filter out (or in) posters and/or subjects. You can flag
conversations or messages for follow up. Plus the interface is just plain
faster than the Web interface.

It's much easier to use a newsreader. If you're using OE then try following
this link news://news.devx.com and after the newsgroups are downloaded subscribe
to vfp.general (and, and maybe off.ramp too <g>).

Newsreaders are _much_ easier to use than any web-based interface I've seen.

Yes -- point your newsreader at news.devx.com, instead of using the
web interface. That's how I read here, and it also lets you access the
off.ramp, which is the safety valve here that keeps the tech
discussions on-topic, mostly. :-)

I've got Free Agent at home for news. But it doesn't have an easy way to
access multiple servers.

OE5 is slow, bloated and buggy, but I use it because it appears to be the
lesser of the available evils. It isn't that I really like it, it is that
there isn't anything better that does what I want. I used Netscape for a
while, but didn't like it's features (or lack thereof). I've tried several
freeware/shareware news readers, but never found one I really liked. If you
are happy with OE5 and if it does what you want, stick with it.

I got so frustrated with it that I ended up paying for Gravity. I was
never able to make Free Agent work the way I wanted it to....
