    Controls - utilising world maps

I am about to develop a VFP app, and would like to utilise a globe or maps
and develop this so that users can from pointing on areas on the globe pick
up information from items listed in diffent areas.

Any ideas on controls etc that might be available

There are a number of map-related ActiveX controls available. There is
one for ArcView/ArcInfo (at least there used to be one).

Microsoft MapPoint comes with one, as well.

I did a search on map point on
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscripti...ex/default.asp and it appears
that it does not ship with the Universal, which is a pity because I
re-ordered a new subscription last week.

Also check "MSDN Library/Other SDK Documentation/MS MapPoint" for the object
model description and documentation. And KB articles 236615, 277749, and
277750 for automation details (alas with VB examples).

Thx, will look at it as soon as the shipment arrives. It would be fun if it
is there. I can use it to create pocket street maps for my pocketpc.

Dunno, but it comes with Universal MSDN and it's great! I don't use
    MapQuest at all anymore.

Oh, cool. An actual activeX control? Or does one have to do OLE
    Automation on the whole app?

Dunno. They did end up giving it away at the eXPerience show. Haven't cracked into
it yet, as I'm wondering if it has that activation crap included? If so, it's
    worthless to me. (Principle thing.)

    Thanks... Karl

Yes, an actual ActiveX control. There's some sort of licensing agreement
to redistribute it, but damned if I know where to find the info.
