    Runtime Error (Microsoft VC++ Runtime Library)

    Hi,

    I got the following runtime error when double clicking at C:\GIS\PROJECTSDMS\RELEASE\PROJECTSDMS.EXE
    file from Windows Explorer. However, I have no problem running the application
    from the VC++ environment. Thanks.

    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program C:\GIS\PROJECTSDMS\RELEASE\PROJECTSDMS.EXE

    abnormal program termination

    95% of the time - Uninitialized variable (Assignment to a block of memory
    that isn't there.) If it is a MFC app then you are calling/messing with a
    class you never initiated in your createapp, or initApp routines.

    1) Crank-up your warning level on your release build to '4' - recompile everything
    and pay attention to what the compiler is complaining about.

    2) Run ntsd or windbg if VC++ debug is not actually catching the error in
    the release version.

    Thank you. My application is a Windows MFC application. I changed the debug
    level to 4 and ran a rebuild. I caught couple warning messages on "unreferenced
    formal parameter" and nothing else. I then tried to find out what is windbg.
    But I don't have it installed (can't find windbg.hlp). What else can I
    do?

    I just found out the INI file was not in the Debug and Release folders. My
    application reads from the INI file from startup. Thanks for help.
