    hashing

I'm currently learning about the method of hashing in class and I will soon
have to use it on a lab. But, my proffessor who is mainly a theorist isn't
giving me a good enough explanation of the subject. So, could I get someone
to give me a more technical explanation of hashing? Possibly with an example?
    I would appreciate it. Thanks.

well, its kinda late now, I pretty much understand hashing. But the class
I'm in is CIS 222 taught by David Matthais. He's a good prof, he teaches
the material well. Thanks for the response though.
