    inherting copy assignment operator !!

    Hi ,

    I have declared following two copy assginment operators in class A.

    A& operator=(const A &);
    A& operator=(B*);

    I have a class B derived from class A.

    my question is that will above two copy assignment operators will be inherited
    in B or I must explicitly declare assigment operators in B also ??

    The operator= doesn’t inherit because it performs a
    constructor-like activity. This function is synthesized by the
    compiler if you don’t create it yourself.
    One more thing, operator= is synthesized only for assigning objects of the same
    type.
    If you want to assign one type to another you must always write
    that operator= yourself.
