Client-side WYSIWYG reporting
We have a need to do web-based WYSIWYG reporting from our corporate sales
lead management system. We print four 3 by 5 lead cards on a single sheet
of standard letter stock, in landscape mode.
Currently we are using Crystal Smart Viewer from Seagate, but we are running
into scalability problems. Smart Viewer places an enormous load on the application
server, particularly in the generation of large temp files. Our clients
may print several hundred cards at a time, and when they all hit our servers
at once, it slows to a crawl. We have a base of about 200 users, and it
only takes 10 or 15 of them all trying to print their lead cards to kill
the server *daid* : - )
We've looked at Brio and Info Builders solutions, but feel they are too much
for what we want to do. All we really need is a simple client-side component
that we can download a recordset to and have it print the whole batch on
the client side instead of paging data in from the server.
Is anyone aware of such a solution?
