    How to install JRE and configure it on Linux

    I am very new to Linux.
    Although i have been wotking on Java for the past 3 years in Windows environment.

    On Windows we simply double click the exe for JRE and it gets installed. Nop need to configure ir etc.

    Now i am starting to work on Linux.
    Can any one pliz help me regarding installation of JRE and its configuraion on Linux.

    I think many intellectuals are there who will help me out.

    Hi basant,

    Download j2re-1_4_2-linux-i586.bin or the latest version from sun site and execute the following in the command prompt,

    chmod 777 j2re-1_4_2-linux-i586.bin(or latest verion)

    ./j2re-1_4_2-linux-i586.bin(or latest version)

    After this follow the wizard.

    Hope this solves ur probs.
