Hi,

If you are posting to "New to Java" forum then it is likely that you are new to forum interaction experience as well and even if you are used to forums it is
still beneficial to read this posting.These guidelines will certainly help in making this forum experience worth while for you and also allow you to derive
maximum benefit out of it.

1. Post questions to correct forum- it increases your chances of getting a meaningful reply.

2. Use meaningful, specific subject headers. the subject header is your golden opportunity to attract qualified experts' attention in around 50 characters or
fewer. Don't waste it on babble like "Please help me" messages with subjects like that get discarded by reflex. Don't try to impress others with the depth of your anguish; use the space for a super-concise problem description instead.

3. Be precise and informative about your problem. E.g saying ".....image is not printing." leaves the reader clueless about the nature of your problem. Hence
try to include other details such as version of JDK you are using, brief outline of what you are trying to do, what is the desired functionality will be widely
appreciated.

4.Volume is not precision.You need to be precise and informative. This end is
not served by simply dumping huge volumes of code or data into a help request. If you have a large, complicated test case that is breaking a program, then attach it with your posting (as attachment) or post a link to the URL where the material is hosted.

5.Follow up with a brief note on the solution. This maybe valuable for others who have similar doubts and provides feedback to those who took time to post reply/solution for you.

5.Courtesy never hurts, and sometimes helps. Try to not get involved in any kind of flame war or personal agenda.This is the golden rule of any forum!

The suggestions seem to cover almost everything. I would appreciate if you would add a line about text formatting, especially the use of code tags. It would be better to have a formatted code in the first instance.
