how to get a TXT file'sline number


I NEED TO READ A TXT FILE TO GET ITS LINE NUMBER.
ANY FUNCTION WHICH I CAN CALL INSTEAD OF OPENNING A FILE AND DO WHILE LOOP?
WIN32 API OR ANY 3RD PARTY DLL.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.

I'm pretty sure VideoSoft's VS-AWK ocx can do this (and other things) quite
quickly. Unfortunately it is not a stand-alone product; it comes bundled
with their VS-OCX product. You can read about it at
