querystring adding comma and space

I am creating a messaging system for a supplier portal. I am having a problem with a querystring. When a user types any information incorrectly or just doesnt type anything they are shown an error message on the page. When they do this more than one time the querystring returns:

querystring=,%20vendornumber

Im guessing that the querystring is never being cleared so it is adding a comma and a space(%20). Can anyone help me with this? If so let me know and I will post my code.
