send long sms via gsm modem

Hello,
I am using Fargo Maestro 100 GSM Modem to send sms. I can only send sms with max length of 160 (text) and 280 (PDU) for each sms. Is there any way to send a longer sms? Any commands applied? All help is much appreciated.

I'm using fargo maestro 100 GSM Modem with hyperterminal.

I can communicate thorugh RS-232 that connects my Fargo Maestro 100 GSM Modem. I can send and receive SMS'es using AT commands perfectly in text format (AT+CMGF=1) but am experiencing problems with PDU format.

I tried all sorts of ways to issue a send (AT+CMGS) with PDU format (AT+CMGF=0). Please help me to realize this. Here is my syntax:

AT+CMGF = 0

My CSCA (Message center number) is,
AT+CSCA?
+CSCA: "+2666000002",145

The desitnation number is:
+26663104703 (+266 is the country code for Lesotho)

Can you discover anything wrong with:
AT+CMGS=23
> 06916266000020A40B916266134007F37F006021819104310004D4F29C0E
<CTRL-Z>

where the sent message is "Test"?. Remember test works fine in Text mode (AT+CMGF=1)

The result is always, +CMS ERROR: 304. I tried everything I know, please help?

I too facing the problem -- not able to send more than 160 characters.
I'm using the following tool:

• GSM modem - Wavecom Fastrack M1306B

We should use separate kit for sending long SMS.....Isn't it?

I have tested many modems, the best was a Sierra modem, that can handle the multipart messages correctly. When I used an SMS software, called Ozeki NG SMS Gateway, it cooperated with it. I could send more than 160 characters, and the Ozeki software forwarded it to the modem which sent it in two or more SMS parts. The receiver got one long message since it joined on his/her phone.

What is your specific need?

To send long sms messages you need to specify the multipart bits, otherwise you are not able to do that.

And the message above should be...
AT+CMGS=17
0691626600002021000B916266134007F3000004D4F29C0E

So not 23
