Sorry if this is a bit off topic or off group but it does concern a
technical problem that is plaguing me more and more as I try to print
documentation concerning VB7 and DOT.NET and I wondered if any of you
experts out there know what is wrong. There
seems to be a bug in the MSDN library that ships with Beta 1 that prevents
me printing a topic and all its sub topics so I was pleased when the normal
January library with comes with MSDN Universal contained the documentation
for the DOT.NET Framework. Unfortunately, though, the problem I personally
call DOG.NET (after dog latin or doggerel) is still present. This is what I
wrote in the bug report I supplied to Microsoft (not of course through Beta1
bug reporting)

Why is it that when you print a topic and all its subtopics the occasional
words are missing from the end of lines making the result gobbleygook or
what I call DOG.NET.
I have tried this on my local HP Laserjet 6MPnd my HP Laserjet III via my
LAN and I always get the same results. I am printing on A4 as I live in New
Zealand.

Maybe you would like to try this:The header and the first paragraph of the
COM Interopability Specificiation under .NET Framework Development under
under .NET Beta documentation is:

COM Interoperability Specification
This document highlights the COM Interoperability features of the Common
Language Runtime. It describes how unmanaged COM applications can gain
access to the services exposed by .NET classes and how managed .NET
applications can gain access to the services of COM servers in a seamless
and transparent manner.

When I print the topic containing this in isolation it prints fine and the
word 'It' starts the second line of the paragraph. When I try and print the
whole specification for reference the word 'It' is left out; the first line
ends with 'Runtime.' and the second line begins with 'describes'.

This problem seems to have been in your system for ages. I can't tell you
how sick I am of having to go through every document and write in the
missing word (or words) every fourth or fifth line. Really, who can possibly
believe in the DOT.NET initiative when you cannot get your own HTML, in your
own library, to print anything better than DOG.NET?

Seriously, though, I would love some help with this since its driving me
CRAZY.

This occurs on Windows ME with IE 5.50.4134.0600 and also under WIN 2K with
the same IE.

This is a known issue with that version of IE and its interaction with the
way the help content is formatted. It will be fixed in Beta 2.

Thanks. I did check the known issues with the MSDN Library for Jan 2001
before
troubling others with this problem and there is no indication there. I guess
its really an IE 5.5 issue because I get the problem on My Win2k development
system and my Win ME production system as well as the special Win ME system
I have dedicated to
..NET beta testing.
