Is it possile to make DB do calculations.

What I am trying to do is make an access database update other fields and do calculations automaticly when a field is updated in the database. is that possible? The only way I have been able to make it do this is by running queries but Im trying to make it do this in realtime so figures are automaticly updated/ Is this possible? Thanks in advance.
