Apply FFT to a wav file

    Hi everyone!
I am currently working on a speech recognition program. I've been able to record sound and display waveform from a wav file. My problem is to apply the Fast Fourier Transformation to the wav file (about 10 seconds long), to obtain the prominent frequencies for analysis. If anyone have come accross this subject before, it would be really helpful to get some guidance!
    Many thanks!!!

    Hello

Just a question, by speech recognition, do you mean one of Microsoft's controls, which'll raise an event, giving you a string containing what was spoken?

Because I've been trying to get something like that to work, but no luck so far...
Just wondering how you did it.

Sorry, i don't know anything about FFT

Don't feel bad.....I'd never heard of it until this thread and my Google search.

Well that makes two of us

This looked like the best, but all i saw were fancy waves... Call myself a mathematician
    Seems interesting though.

If you're struggling getting the actual audio stream from the .wav, perhaps this thread'll be helpful. We haven't solved the problem yet though..

Thanks for your reply but they are solution that i have come accrossed before, just found out what i really need is to access datapoint of a wav file. Think i may have to post another thread for help on this subject.

As long as the question is related to the original topic, this thread can be used.

    What, specifically, is your question?

Well! i need to load chunk of data (in binary) from the wav file into an array then feed this array into the FFT function to get results! i know how to read a file in binary but trying to workout a way to loop through the file chunk by chunk, to feed to the FFT function!
