    Post Why?

    First off,

    Why are you looking to do this for?

    It is possible, but if I'm not mistaken I think it might involve dealing with the entire executable open as binary.

    my.resources.whatever.

    does bring up some options, but you're not going to be able to rename anything at run time.

    Post Txt res

    Adding a text file as a resource appears to bring up quite a few options.

    My.Resources.Help.Insert()

    These functions will allow you to modify whatever.

    What ARE YOU working on exactly?

    What will the project do?

    I am makin g

    I am making a productivity program for work that keeps track of information, it can only be a stand alone application with no installation and the settings i want built into the exe. I just want to be able to use the strings from my.resources and edit them when needed to to modify application settings.

    For security purposes?

    Strings are easily readable / modifiable in an executable by a 6-year-old child with a hex editor.

    Xor

    Basic XOR encryption with offset in an external .dat file will provide a much greater level of security. 90% of the population would be head scratching with it.

    What i will do then

    I will save settings in a dat file or a file that i make up then. Next question, can I use a MDB file in vb without having a access server or sql server on the computer as a means to save a database. Like i said the program must be stand alone and require nothing to be installed.
