how to decrease the size of the log-file (2.3 Gb)

We have a log-file of 2,3 Giga-bytes. Even after a full database backup and
    a log-file backup the size doesn't decrease.

How can we decrease the size of the log-file after a backup of the log-file
    ?

Assuming sql server 2k try this:

    Open Enterprise manager
Select the Server and database that needs to be "resized"
Right click on the database name icon select view and then taskpad
From here it shows your database size and translog size.
mouse over the bottom yellow down arrow Select Shrink database
    Select the files button
From the drop down select the Log file you need to truncate/shrink after
    you've backed it up.

Now be cautious to do this ONLY after you've done a successfull backup to
see the maximum benefit from the processes; and do it when you have limited,
if any at all, uses of the system.

From a T-SQL standpoint lookup DBCC SHRINKDATABASE
    OR BACKUP LOG

By default when the log file is backed up, it is truncated to the point that
any completed transactions are removed from the log file. If this is not
occuring, you may have problems elsewhere.

    Hope this helped,

Something we run often is the DBCC SHRINKFILE (filename, desired MB size)
Look at books online for more info. It will free up unused space.
