    Solving different collations

    I am trying to transfer a database from one Ms sql server 7.0 with the default
    collation to a MS sql server 7.0 with norwegian/danish collation.
    And the target server says it cannot restore the database because of the
    difference in collation
    What do i do?

    Hi,

    I don't know if there are other, more convenient ways, but you can proceed
    like this;

    1) shut down your target server by using the service manager
    2) make copies of all your db files
    3) run rebuildm.exe and rebuild the database to norwegian/danish
    (your db files will be rebuild loosing everything in them, thats
    why backing them up in step 2)
    4) start your target server again and restore. Now it will accept it.

    If you will restore your previous state, shut down the server and copy all
    files back again.
