initial Java programming
Hi,
I am new to Java programming language & i have done programming in C++ &
Windows programming in VC++ 6.0.
I am studying from a book 'Java 2 From Scratch' & it seems the author is
starting right away from visual programming. I just wanted to know that will
this approach be fine in the long term for me, i mean is Java normally &
mostly used to do visual programming ... i remember how many console programs
i had to do in C++ before starting VC++.
Please comment.
Thanx.

Re: initial Java programming
Those who [still] think Java is only for web applets will probably start with
the visual.
Do to the expansive use of the browser interface (which I despise) Java has
moved to the server and that, along with most languages like it, means it
is mostly used server-side.
Java is being used successfully client-side by those savy enough to do it
-and by some of those who are not.
I would not teach Java the way that book does.
