Basic blues

I have to write a database application as a project.
The database itself isn't much of a problem, but it's the
small things I'm having a problem with, like adding a
print functionality so that users can print their search
results to paper & displaying a transparent image as the
background image.
I do hope that someone can help me with this...

They aren't asking for much are they. Is this a school project?

One solution. Try using a tool like iText (it is free) to generate a PDF
(which allows 'background' images) and then launch the PDF viewer. The user
can print it from there. There are also Report builders available that might
be able to do this. check out www.sourceforge.org .
