dial-up networking under linux
I'm new to linux and while most of the settings and such seem straight
forward. I have been unable to setup a connection to my isp using dialup.
i have all the information needed to connect to the isp and can get linux to
open the modem port and dial the number. after this when i try to load a
page with NS i receive an error message saying that it was unable to
connect to *****. this happens with every domain i have tried. any help
with this would be greatly appreciated.
btw i'm running redhat 6.0
thanks

Have you tried to set up the DNS server. To see that your network conection
works
try ifconfig to see if you have the ppp interface up and the ping to an ip
number (not
domain name).
Good luck!

Re: dial-up networking under linux
Good luck. I installed RH 6.0 last Fall and have yet to get dial-up networking
to work. I really believe they have a bug in the RH6.0 distribution regarding
dial-up networking. I have successfully configured a local area network
and am accessing the net on my linux box through a proxy server running on
my Win98 box. Kind of a long way around but one must do what one must do...P.S.
If you ever figure out how to make dial-up work please send me your solution.
Thanks.

I think the easiest way is to use EZPPP, a free download. Search for it
on the net
