    If I use the ODBC Driver, then I am using ODBC right?

    Yes that is correct. If you don't want to use
    ODBC you can use OLEDB. With OLEDB you need to
    select the correct Provider. The one supplied
    by Oeacle is called "OraOLEDB.Oracle". Just
    modify the previous code to look like this:

    conn = "UID=" & strUID & ";PWD=" & strPWD & ";DSN=" & strDSN

    Set cn = New ADODB.Connection

    With cn
    .Provider = "OraOLEDB.Oracle"
    .ConnectionString = conn
    .CursorLocation = adUseClient
    .Open
    End With
