Access running slow...

I have around 31 tables in a SQL Database. The SQL database is on a server
in another building. My Access database will be in the same building but
on a PC. In Access, I have the tables linked to the SQL Database. Some of
the tables have around 200,000+ records.

When I try to open a form in Access (I am running a query to filter for certain
data chosen by the user)it sometimes takes 8 to 10 seconds to bring up the
data. What can I do to speed up connection or bring data to Access faster.
I hope this makes sense.
