Beginner - Web hosting and amending my home page
I'm a beginner interested in starting my own web site. I contacted my ISP
and they advised that they offer free Web hosting for either a Home Page
or Web site.
I followed the tutorial and was able to create my own Home Page. I have the
address and can access it no problem.
The problem is I don't know how to ammend it. I rang my ISP but the service
assistant seemed quite vague asking what browser I have and finally saying
I needed FTP and would need to downlaod FTP from the net.
I have a brand new IBM laptop with Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer 5.0.
I have Office 2000 but it doesn't include front page.
I know some basic HTML and know how to view source code from Internet Explorer.
Can anyone offer some advice as to how I can ammend my page. Also was this
the best way to go, is there another way of starting a Web page that allows
greater control.

Your ISP recommends FTP, so you might try out CuteFTP (you can download a
trial version). It is easy to install and use.

Use FTP to copy your source to your hard drive (alternatively cut&paste from
IE source). Then, given that you know basic html, you can edit the source in
notepad. Then use FTP to copy the edited source on your hard drive to the
web server.
