I've used both extensively....VC++ is more widely used, but that doesn't
mean that it's better! My vote goes to Borland...

Re: borland c++ or vc++
I haven't used Borland. Could you give reasons?

Re: borland c++ or vc++
Borland's compilers have always had their fans and technical merits, but I
would strongly recommend VC++ simply because it is so much more popular.
You will hardly see a job posting requiring Borland C++ these days (I haven't
noticed one in recent memory). Plus there are so many resources you can turn
to when you have problems with VC++.
My 2 cents...

Re: borland c++ or vc++
I have been strictly VC++ fro 6 years now and would like to jump into something
new (with C++, NOT VB or Java) with .NET trying to squeeze C++ out.

It depends what you are heading for - apart from the visual components,
were Borland clearly wins (but I rarely ever use), the Borland compiler
allows you to use modern libs due to its better template handling. It
still has limitations compared with the standard, but none
If you don't care about template features like partial specialization
you can work with the Vis C++, but even the new version will exclude
this feature(sic!) which renders it more and more useless for working
with modern libs. Upto now, only the Blitz++ came to my mind, but only
recently there was a discussion about reimplementing the STL completely
with no workarounds for broken compilers - and guess, what compiler
they had in mind. More definitely will follow...
